Salt wind, storm surge and a lot of old pines: Flagler Beach trees fail in their own ways, and we've cleaned up after every named storm since Matthew.
Flagler Beach is two towns for a tree crew. Beachside, east of A1A and along the dune, it's salt-pruned live oaks, sea grapes, sabal palms and the Washingtonias people planted in the '80s, all of them leaning west and all of them the first thing surge and 100-mph gusts reach. On the Intracoastal side — Palma Vista, Fuquay, the streets off Moody Boulevard and the older homes toward Lambert Avenue — it's tall slash pines and laurel oaks that shed limbs every summer and go over when a wet season softens the root plate.
The City of Flagler Beach has its own tree ordinance, separate from Palm Coast's, with protections for specimen trees and its own permit process; we handle it. After storms we're on the priority list for the beachside when A1A reopens, and we stage debris to Flagler County's specifications so the FEMA haulers take it from the right-of-way.

Questions from Flagler Beach homeowners
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Flagler Beach?
Flagler Beach has its own ordinance separate from Palm Coast's. Trees above a certain diameter, and specimen oaks in particular, need a city permit or an arborist's hazard documentation; palms are generally exempt. We handle whichever applies.
Can a bucket truck get to my beachside lot?
Usually along A1A and the numbered streets, yes. The narrow lots east of A1A sometimes need a climber or a compact lift; we look before quoting.
Why do my live oaks look burned on the east side?
Salt spray. Beachside live oaks grow lopsided away from the wind and the windward leaves scorch after storms. That's normal and the tree is fine — we prune for shape and remove the dead, and don't cut into the healthy wind-shaped side.
After a hurricane, how long until you can get here?
We start the moment winds drop below about 35 mph and A1A is passable. Beachside customers with trees on structures are at the top of the list; expect us in the first two days for those and the first week for yard cleanup.
